At full council this week in Ealings Town Hall, Perivale resident Billy Higgins demanded a refund for residents of Cotswold Court in Perivale because the Council had failed to collect the rubbish of all residents in the block for three consecutive weeks.
Mr Higgins pointed out to the leader of the Council that the residents had paid their council tax to the Council, who then gave some of that money to the contractor to collect their rubbish. The contractor had failed to do this so the Council took some of this money back.
Mr Higgins asked for some of that money back as they gave it to the Council in the first place. He went on to say that he understood that one of his ward Councillors was not available to residents for 5 months.
Residents had given the Council the money for this labour Cllrs wages and should take it back as he hadn't done any work for 5 months. Could residents have some of that mnoney back, or at least invest it in CCTV for Cotswold Court as they had issues there.
The answer was of course no. Residents would not be getting any money back. Labour said they would install CCTV and finally claw back the money from their Labour colleague who went missing for almost 5 months and give this money to the Perivale ward forum, which is what your local Cllr Justin Anderson demanded on these pages on the 12th of February. See here.
Cllr Anderson said of this turn of events, "The residents of Perivale can be proud of themselves here. Billy really nailed the lie that the rubbish problems in Ealing are sorted and that Labour Cllrs do any work for residents. Labour tried to brush both issues under the carpet, but the residents were not having any of it. I will make sure that residents have their say in how this money is spent at our next ward forum".
