Just when we thought it was safe to go out again, in the hope of not falling over rubbish or recycling that has not been collected by the Council on time, residents in Hanwell have found the Council has not collected all their rubbish and recycling.
In Hobbayne ward, Hanwell, Cllr Costello is used to getting calls from residents telling him that something has not been collected, but this week he was surprised by the number of calls he received.
Cllr Costello said, "I was getting calls at the end of the week from residents on Greenford avenue and Framfield road who didn't have their garden waste collected, which annoyed them because they paid an extra £40 for this service and it was still very poor. I noticed then, when I was out on my travels that most of the roads close to where I live didn't have their plastic recycling collected by Friday evening. Their collection day is Thursday so I rang a few people I know on these roads and they told me it wasn't the first week this had happened in the last month. Bridge Avenue, Brookbank Avenue, Cuckoo Dene, Beechmount Avenue and Bridge Avenue were all still waiting to have their plastics recycling collected on Sunday Evening. I genuinely believed that after 6 months of poor service that the Council were on top of this but 8 months into the new contract and people, lots of people in Hanwell have to wait 4 days plus to have their plastics recycling taken away".
Ealing Labour is failing people who pay a lot of money for a very poor service. Northfields is in a mess too. It's not right that the leader of the Council stands up in Council meetings and tells residents the service is back to normal. Clearly this is not the case in Hanwell. He is either misleading the people or is misinformed himself.
