As much as we need to work together for the residents of Perivale, Greenford and Northolt who are most affected by the current plans for HS2, it is really hard to ignore what Ealing Labour have done here, or to be more accurate, failed to do here.
We now know that since last July, there has been only one meeting between the council and the Department of Transport to discuss this issue. The cabinet member for transport and the leader of the council did not attend that meeting.
We also know that the council submitted a two page holding objection letter to HS2 and that is basically all they have done as far as making representations on this matter is concerned.
Hillingdon on the other hand did a huge piece of work. They joined 51M and their own submission ran into hundreds of pages. Guess who got a tunnel.
Not Ealing.
