After the recent announcement on HS2, the Conservative group in Ealing have made it clear that we would fight the plans as they stood. Residents in Perivale, Greenford and Northolt have not been given enough consideration, unlike residents in Hillingdon.
Perivale Cllr, Justin Anderson put this down to the Ealing Labour group not joing the 51m group after we told them to. The 51M grouop is made up of local authorities and organisations along the route.
By refusing to join, Ealing was isolated from this group who won vital changes to the route in their areas, such as the tunnelling in Hillingdon which will protect residents along the route from the effects of trains hurtling through their area at great speed.
Northolt Cllr, Eileen Harris said"I don't know what to say to residents along the route in Northolt. How can I explain why Hillingdon residents got as tunnel and we didn't. Labour should have joined the 51M group but didn't. They will have to explain that decision themselves".
Former leader of the council and Greenford Green Cllr, Jason Stacey said"the fight goes on and we will be supporting Mayor Boris Johnson and Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes in opposing the plans as they stand now. We need progress, but not like this.
