Last night at full Council, Conservative Cllr, Phil Taylor asked the leader of the council how many collections of residents rubbish and recycling were missed in the first six months of the new contract which they awarded to Enterprise last April.
Even Labour Cllrs who had previously denied the seriousness of the problem were taken aback by the answer. The leader of the Council announced that over 34,200 collections were missed.
That's an average of almost 6,000 per month. Normally you would expect around a 1,000 missed collections per month. There were over 8,000 in april, then the figures dropped off in May and June only to rise again in July and August.
Perivale Conservative Cllr, Justin Anderson said, "I can't believe that Labour told us this problem had been solved by June. the August missed collections went through the roof again and were almost as bad as April".
Northolt Mandeville Cllr, Eileen Harris said, "My residents won't be surprised by these shocking figures. Why was the leader of the Council playing this down for so long. He should have been honest with residents and admitted that they were still having problems after six months".
